Cynic Tees got a new look

August 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

After much debate and hassle, I finally got around to updating Cynic Tees. I’m pretty happy the the outcome, and apparently so are those who are looking for cynical and sarcastic sayings on T-Shirts. Of the comments I have gotten, the following is my favorite: “Your new look and feel is much better than the crap that was out there before”.
Yup, makes one feel pretty good to know that although the first time I might have produced crap, that the second time around I actually did something more appealing. The design still isn’t completely finished, I would like to fix a few things up, but it’s usable and ready for shoppers.

Where in the world?

August 5th, 2008 · No Comments

This week I find myself in hot muggy Chicago. Yes every year I end up making a few trips to Chicago to pow wow with co-workers in an attempt to set the content management world straight for my employer. In all I would have to say it’s one of my more enjoyable trips that I get to make each year, and this year was no exception. As always the information I will come away with and the work that needs to be done is inline with my thinking. However, this trip there seemed to be something a little different than the usual 4 day stay. For some reason I seem to fall asleep in my hotel. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve been watching ghost stories with Michael during lunch. No probably not, but then again who know, even though I’m not a big believer in the supernatural. [Read more →]

Django Site(s) updating

July 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Every once in a while I start reading something online and get this wild hair up my rear and decide to do something I usually don’t do, and that’s update software. Recently I purchased James Bennett: Practical Django Projects (Great Book BTW!), which needs a more recent svn checkout then what I was working with. Basically on my Cynic Tees site (which is really in a holding pattern), I had installed Django 0.96 which is kinda old, especially in Django life. So like any good admin, I updated to the new revision 8069. [Read more →]

It’s crunch time

July 20th, 2008 · No Comments

So as you’ve probably noticed, it’s been a while since I posted here. So as a snapshot I thought I’d include you in what I’ve actually been doing and where you can follow where I do post almost every day. The rest of this month is going to be a busy one, and I don’t expect August to be any smoother, but what follows is what you can expect me to be doing.

Active Projects:

  • Left Side Lids: (website) is up and running pretty strong. I was initially a little overwhelmed by putting something up that I didn’t really know how it would work. So far the comments have been great, a lot of helpful people telling me what they are looking for, which allows me to better serve those exact kind of needs.
  • Ultimate Guitar Hero: (website) is still running really strong. With E3 last week, there were a ton of updates to get through. At times it seemed like a news release ever minute, although we know that wasn’t the case. I’ll be adding new features to this in the not to distant future, but it’s not a top priority right now.

Making Django Admin More Personal

June 18th, 2008 · No Comments

This is a really quick improvement I did to distinguish one Django admin screen from the next. Typically I might have two or three windows open to admin any one site at any one time. So there had to be a way to customize the admin css in order give it a more precise label, instead of the out-of-the-box heading of “Django Admininstration”. So here is what I did: [Read more →]
